Electric vehicles (EVs) and charging stations in six different municipalities along the Black Sea coast significantly reduce CO2 emissions in the region.
Through the Black Sea E-mobility project, the six Bulgarian municipalities of Kavarna, Byala, Dalgopol, Dolni Chiflik, Nessebar, and Primorsko have been making groundbreaking strides in speeding up the region’s green transition.
Each municipality has acquired one EV and installed charging stations connected to solar panels.
The EVs are utilised for various social, cultural, and youth activities in the municipalities. Moreover, the charging stations are accessible to local citizens and tourists using electric cars while travelling around the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.
The project has also enhanced the capacity of municipality organisations to evaluate their strategic and planning documents concerning designed and implemented activities to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and mitigate climate change.
Smart Innovation Norway is one of the project partners, and it is gratifying to announce that the expected outcome of the project measures is a reduction of 65 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

The Black Sea E-mobility project is financed by the Environment Protection and Climate Change in the European Economic Area (EEA) Financial Mechanism 2014-2021.
The EEA is funded to contribute to a more equal Europe, both socially and economically.
