SENDER

2020-2024

In the context of continuously increasing distributed renewable energy, grid operators require more flexibility from the power grid to balance the rise in intermittent renewable energy production.

SENDER places consumers at the heart of the energy system and thus at the center of the development of Demand Response services. These services will enable the use of flexibility in the distribution network, improving frequency stability and congestion management.

The project's overarching goal is to develop and test next-generation energy service applications for demand response, as well as home automation. This includes directly engaging consumers/prosumers in a co-creation process with other stakeholders from the energy sector. Ideal solutions for different end-user target groups will be delivered based on the application of societal and psychological criteria.

SENDER builds on the results of several completed Horizon 2020 projects and creates a strong link to ongoing projects. Furthermore, SENDER aims for a high degree of transferability by developing digital twin technologies of consumers, based on insights and experiences from three pilots in Austria, Finland, and Spain.
