ACCEPT

2021 - 2024

At the core of the ACCEPT project is the concept of "energy communities," a collective approach that brings together citizens, local businesses, and organizations to produce and consume locally generated renewable energy.

This EU-funded project aims to develop and deliver a digital toolbox that enables energy communities to offer innovative, digital services. These services will help reduce reliance on fossil fuels, save energy in households, and thereby lower electricity bills—without compromising quality of life. Additionally, home comfort will be enhanced through the use of smart devices.

In ACCEPT, the developed tools will be demonstrated and validated at four pilot sites in Greece, the Netherlands, Spain, and Switzerland, involving over 3,000 people and 750 homes.

Project focus:

  • Forming energy communities that unite citizens, businesses, and organizations to produce and consume renewable energy locally.
  • Creating a digital toolbox enabling the reduction of electricity costs via demand response. The project's tools are demonstrated and validated across four pilot sites in Greece, the Netherlands, Spain, and Switzerland.

Role of the Social Innovation team:

  • Creating a social scientific framework for consumer validation of the digital toolbox, and end-user engagement in residential demand response programs.
