Buildings account for a significant share of global energy consumption and carbon emissions, and with 97% of European buildings needing renovation to meet energy efficiency standards, the urgency to act is clear.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/fortesie.eu\/\">FORTESIE project<\/a>, funded by Horizon Europe, is at the forefront of this transformation. It is pioneering smart renovation solutions that not only improve energy efficiency but also reshape tenant behavior through engagement strategies tailored to different user needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/smartinnovationnorway.com\/en\/prosjekt\/fortesie\/\"><strong>Learn more about the FORTESIE project<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In the project, Smart Innovation Norway&#8217;s team of Social Innovation experts plays a leading role in fostering acceptance and active participation in energy efficiency habits. To support this work, Smart Innovatuion Norway has utilized its innovative Common Impact Model (CIM).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CIM was initially designed to foster community acceptance of local energy solutions in the European Horizon2020 project, E-LAND. In FORTESIE, this model was adapted, shifting the acceptance focus from the community to the individual level. Through this individualistic lens, the main aim is to reshape personal energy consumption habits through household-level renovations and the integration of smart technologies. Among the goals of the model, related to the pilot cases of FORTESIE, are the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Understand which motivational factors influence homeowner\/tenant renovation and energy-saving behaviors and decisions;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assist in the development of digital personalized content that will drive behavioral changes such as gamified challenges, quizzes, tips, and advice, namely the FORTESIE application\u2019s recommendation engine;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Help in the development of a strategy to engage residents in renovation and energy-saving initiatives in a way that aligns with the tenant\u2019s\/homeowner\u2019s values and priorities, taking into account the perceived benefits and concerns of these residents<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-pilot-case-studies-lessons-from-spain-and-portugal\"><strong>Pilot Case Studies: Lessons from Spain and Portugal<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>FORTESIE is testing its innovative approach of the CIM implementation across multiple pilot sites in Spain and Portugal, each with distinct target groups which calls for tailored engagement strategies.
