HOUSEHOLDFLEX

2022-2025

Funding institution: Innovation Norway

To support the electrification of society, increase the utilization of existing infrastructure and reduce the need for investments, commercialization of demand side flexibility is crucial. HousholdFlex starts with Futurehome’s smart home platform and Enfo’s aggregation platform and adapts them to scale for rapid rollout to hundreds of thousands of households and several electricity suppliers (BRP) and aggregators (BSP), hence creating large volumes of flexibility from households. This requires enhancement of the platforms for easy configuration, robustification and automation at all levels, including machine learning algorithms. Further, the solutions will be adapted to handle new grid tariff arrangements, new business models and future markets and trading rules. The project will roll out to 2 500 households with at least 4 BRP/BSPs and demonstrate at least 75 MWh flexibility sold per day in 10 days. To reach the goals, competence development is needed within regulation, market design and business models and within decision support algorithms. This is required also to prepare/open the market and contribute to profitable value chains.
